The Isey Seagrass Coaster - Natural
by Adélie Ducasse, Atelier Ducasse
The Isey Seagrass Coaster sits gently within relaxed table settings, where this seagrass coaster brings warmth and woven texture to moments shaped by light, glass, and unhurried conversation. Its presence feels quiet and intentional, allowing the table to remain open, calm, and visually balanced.
Placed beneath cups and glasses, it protects surfaces while maintaining an effortless sense of order. The flat woven form feels stable without heaviness, supporting daily rituals such as morning coffee, shared meals, or evening drinks that extend naturally as conversations slow and deepen.
Woven from natural seagrass in Indonesia, the material shows gentle shifts in tone and pattern. Each variation reflects hand-guided craft and a sense of place. For care, vacuum clean gently and allow to dry thoroughly to preserve the texture and durability of the seagrass.

The Idea
The Isey Seagrass Coaster - Natural was drawn for The Quarry Collection — which meant working inside the collection's rules before anything else: one material family, honest thickness, and no detail that exists only to be looked at.
The prototype went through the workshop three times. What survived is the version where nothing further could be taken away without the piece stopping working.
The Designer
Adélie Ducasse trained as a cabinetmaker before turning to design, and it shows in the joinery — nothing is hidden, nothing is glued where it could be pegged.
Her pieces for Studio Bizar began with a single question: what does a chair owe the room it stands in? The answer, so far, has been restraint.
